Gardening Group

Gardening_2_ Welcome to our Garden Group!! Gardening_1_

The Gardening Group consists of women who are interested in gardens, gardening, learning, and sharing. We meet on the second Thursday of the month at a member’s home or at a gardening venue. Among other activities, we will tour garden centers and exibits, go to gardening events, have speakers, and enjoy each others’ yards.  Check your newsletter for information on the activity for each month.

August 8

For our August program, Master Gardener Debbie Hyde will be demonstrating how to ferment vegetables such as cabbage, cauliflower and onions for homemade sauerkraut for healthy eating and natural probiotics.  Debbie will have all the supplies needed but attendees should expect to contribute a few dollars to cover any cost that Debbie may incur. If you have a desire to continue fermenting veggies, a list of what is needed and

Amazon links will be provided. She has a large garden that we will be able to walk through, after which we will go “The Pickle House” for lunch – Debbie lives a few miles past the “Y” at Oak Hill. More details on address and time will be given out to those who RSVP. Please also    expect to “tip” your driver if you do not wish to drive.

Please RSVP to Sue F.

September 12

September is a good time to start planting shrubs and trees; thus our September program is a garden swap (plants, books, and gardening utensils).  We will also be discussing your ideas for programs for the rest of the year.  Start thinking now about programs you would like to see.  Location and time TBD.

All members of NWN are welcome!  If you plan to attend, please contact one of the chairpersons.  Contact info is in our Directory
